Kangaroo Grass 2, Negative Print, Black

$80.00

This original botanical monoprint features Kangaroo Grass (Themeda triandra), an important Australian native grass and one of the earliest native grains. Its seeds were traditionally harvested and ground into flour for bread and other foods.

Printed in black linseed oil–based ink, the negative printing process produces a strong yet restrained composition, emphasising the silhouette and overall structure of the overlapping stems.

As with all original monoprints, this is a one-of-a-kind piece — the result of a single printing process that cannot be replicated.

Botanical monoprinting is a slow, hands-on process that uses real plants to create one-of-a-kind prints. Each piece reflects the natural variation of the plant and the printing process itself.

Mounted and ready to be framed, this work is intended to be displayed where the form and structure of Australian native grasses can be appreciated.
